Bought my 2000 Triton TR20 new with 200HP Evinrude Ficht motor. Have not had 1 problem and very satisfied. However, I have noticed it is hard to start when weather drops below 40 degrees. During warmer months I never have to choke motor or depress throttle; gas line prime ball is always hard and batteries are charged. Any tips/ideas you can share?

Thats controlled by the EMM to run rich when engine is cold. Might check temp sensors are working properly.

Can remove them and test them in hot water, would need to manual to find resistence specs.

I don't have manuals in electronic pdf files to be able to send test procedures.

Hard Starting 2000 Ficht solutions;Battery recommendation?
After another cold November (2014) of failed starts, took boat to dealer for check-up. Found that the starter was pulling too many amps & was told the starter needed to be replaced. They told me this motor needs at least 800 CCA's to start properly- is this correct? I have been using Interstate 31 AGM batteries. Also, found thermostats were stuck wide open. This explains why my spark plugs were so fouled. Mechanic said this motor needs to warm up for several minutes before hammering full throttle, to avoid this from happening. I would welcome any comments on what was found and recommendations on crank & deep cycle batteries. Have been looking at Northstar 31 sealed batteries, but pricey at $380-$400 a piece?!

cold start
Have a 1999 150 ficht with same prob, tried full tune with wires, seems to be better but not perfect, still waiting to burn up 10 gallons of fuel with cleaner then fresh tank of non ethanol. Keep posting tests and results as it helps all.
