brand new powerhead, still warrenty? break in?

i am purchasing a brand new old stock 1987, 9.9/15 hp powerhead. it is still in the crate, in plastic, with tags. is this still under warrenty? how do i find out if it has been registered?

how do i breakin a 2 stroke? first brand new motor so, i know to run it at 24-1 and barrel test for a hour, then retorqure the head and water jacket.
but then what? idle/troll around for 8 hours??

You would have to ask dealer you purchased it from about warranty but probably wouldn't be covered.
Need to run on water, mix 25:1 oil ratio.
First hour run at about half throttle.
Second hour about 3/4 throttle or enough to plain boat
Third through tenth hour can run at full throttle but no more than 5 minutes at a time. Vary speed through out breakin.
