I bought a boat a couple months ago and the first time I took it out on a lake that allows gas engine operation the thing started fine, but when I advanced the throttle the engine quits. I throttle back and it starts right up. It will do this a few times. After a few attempts it may work fine and goes like hell. Stop and the whole thing may or may not happen again. It's almost like the thing is being choked out. I was told the guy I got the boat from only put a few hours on the motor last spring. It idles fine and runs like heck when it works. Wondering if it's a fuel pump, carb or combo of both. It's an 1990 Evinrude E28ESLESM. If anyone has any ideas about this would be great and maybe where to start first. I did put fresh gas in and let it run for about 30mins. before I took the boat out.
