Hey all,
I recently purchased a boat with a 2000 Ficht 90hp motor on it.
When I try to start the motor it cranks, but wont start. It seems like it is trying to start and a tiny bit of exhaust comes out but it wont actually start. Using a tiny bit of starting fluid (Bad I know) we were able to get it going enough where we could throttle up and it ran perfectly, but then when we throttled back down to idle it died again.
So far I have tried switching to a smaller fuel tank with fresh fuel, and I'm about to replace the fuel filter, and install new indexed spark plugs.
I ordered the service manual from Evinrude, but while I wait for it I wanted to see if anyone had experienced similar issues? or had any ideas of things I could try to diagnose the issue.
