My 150 HO Ficht was purchased new in 2005. It has been a reliable motor on my Stratos 285xl. Lately after starting, warming up and running to a spot, and fishing for an hour , it doesn't want to start up unless I keep it in neutral and give it quite a bit of throttle. It roars up, I lower the throttle and then engage to drive. My mechanic told me to wait a bit after I engage the key until I hear the fuel pump shut down, indicating that I have pressure. ( about 15 seconds) . I tried this but it doesn't help. I indexed some new plugs and it runs great, but still this hot start problem. Any advise? Thanks.

sounds like the fuel is vapourising .
Never played around with one of these, but did hear something once about a alloy plate being put on the engine somewhere that helps cool the fuel .
don't remember where or what is was about though, but I do know a few tried it and it cured the problem.
try looking up on google about fuel vapourising on that particular model
