My 2008 115hp etec having throttle issues

I am starting to have some issues with my etec. I can start the motor just fine, and it idles just fine (sometimes it wants to be a tad bit sluggish idling but then its ok after a few seconds). Anyways... when I start to give to engine some throttle, the engine gets up to about 2000-3000rpms and then seems to "stall". Mind you that the boat is still moving but my throttle is all the way down. It takes a few seconds (maybe 5-10) before it gets up and goes! Does anyone have a diagnosis for this? I already changed out the water/fuel separator and the inline fuel filter and it seemed to help out a little bit but I am still having some hesitation. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! same issues

I have the same 2008 115 etec motor, it also will not go to full throttle, but it does not clear up, it stays around 2900 rpms running sluggish. Looking for ideas on this. You said you have a fuel / water separator ? does it look like a oil filter ? I cannot find it on mine.
