I have a 1970 Evinrude six horse ,6002B . The motor started slipping out of gear ,forward and reverse. So I figure its the shifter dog. I ordered one it cost $125.00 when I tore the lower unit off I found I had a bent propeller shaft and the reverse gear bushing was bad. The gears are good I haven't bought parts for repairs like this in 25 years, the cost is unreal. I was looking and it seems like the lower unit I have shares parts with the 9.9 at least the part numbers match. SO can I use the parts from a 9.9 on my 6 horse ? USED parts are way cheaper and plentiful THANKS

Yes but they need to be close in year range. -
if they are same part numbers then its the same, so just check the part numbers and swap them in.
sometimes a simple part makes the engine scrap due to high cost of parts.
ive scrapped a few engines that almost made me cry to see them in bits due to high cost of part replacements.
