2004 evinrude shuts off

Hi, 2004 evinrude shuts off with no warning when running at 3500 rpms wont turn over till it cools down this started after having the alarm going off and hot light on I shut it off immediately found bag around water intake removed it restarted good water flow out of inducator and preasure gauge was able to run back to ramp at 1500 rpms for 30 min no issue changed the warer pump check t/stats took it back out same thing could it be the emm? Sounds like the heat sensor shutting it down.Take one of the battery cables off,let it set over night and see if it will reset.
