1988 150 power sometime then not

I have E 150 2 stroke, acts like starving for fuel but then pump the throttle a few times and gets up and goes. Will run at low speed. Fuel pump looks good. Idles OK. Does not seem to have top end it should. Thought was tank but have eliminated that. Not familiar with all that can go wrong with this motor. Thinking it is something simple but don't know if there are computers involved here. Anyone have a problem like this before. Need some feedback. Thanks for you help.

Update;

Took the boat to the boat shop and they find one coil pack may need to be replaced and carbs are in need of cleaning combined with lower compression than recommended. Has intermittent electrical problem.
