I currently own a 1960? Evinrude 5.5 HP "Fisherman", Model No. 5520 (not sure what this number is 06133, but is there too).
A Little Background:
My grandfather sold it to me a number of years ago. Not sure how many years he owned it. He probably used it twice a year. I have had it since ~ 1985 and have probably used it once a year on average. I had to pay a Canadian mechanic to replace the original head gasket on it last year (while on vacation - $Yikes!) They called it "ol' honey", I think, because it is in such great shape.
Anyway, the engine runs really well. It runs smooth at high speed and idols down for trolling, etc. However, I'm concerned about the water pump. It is putting out water, but as far as I know, it is the original too. Should I be concerned? If so, is this difficult to do myself? I ***ume I would need to order the impeller and a gasket kit.
Finally, I've obviously not had much work done to the motor, so I'm not sure where to look for a reputable mechanic for an estimate. I live in Stow, Ohio.
Thanks for any advice!
Rick
