  • engine alarm

I just purchased a 1994 Evin 50. This engine has no corrosion considering age and it runs fine. While running on hose maybe one minute, the alarm goes off. I am feeling all around the motor and it is cool.

I notice what I think is an oil line or at least an extra line on connect point on engine.

My question is would there be 2 different reasons for the alarm, no water no oil?

If there is an oil alarm where could I disconnect it to still have the temp alarm.

    Engine Alarm

What type of alarm is it? Is it 3 beeps or 1 constant beep? I had one constant beep and found it to be my thermostat was causing the issue. I didn't have one. The last person who worked on this motor before I bought it must have took it out because of the Thermal Temperature Switch had went bad.

Depending on your Motor and if you mix your gas you don't have a oil gauge or line to cause it to go off. You can actually unplug the oil plug and it not do anything.

The thermostat is usually located close to the cylinder heads on top of the spark plugs depending on if it is a outboard. It has 4 screws that hold it in. The Thermal switch is about 80 bucks from marineengine.com and it is right next to the thermostat that you can unscrew and replace in 2 minutes. When you start your engine put your hand on the top of the block above plugs and see if it warms up. If it doesn't good chance something is wrong with it. Is it pumping water out when running?
