  • I got gas with water, and now it won't start

I have a 2000 evinrude 150 with the Fitch injectors, and recently went to santee, and the motor was doing fine until the last morning after I filled the tank. We got about 2 miles down the lake and the buzzer came on as the motor died. We found water in the gas. Since then I have changed both fuel filters and spark plugs, and still nothing. I was wondering what should be my next move on trying to get it back running. Any advice is appreciated.

Ok,Try this ,losen the fuel line on the first injector in line so that it leaks pretty good.Turn the motor over and see if water leaks out.If so start with the fist one till fuel comes out ,then the second and so on till you purge all the water out.Understand what were doing? We are trying to get fuel to the injector instead of water.

I have twins 2000 225hp, had a similar situation a couple of years back, ended up being the rear fuel tank was pitted, water intruted and ended up in the fuel filters, If you don't have a water separator filter, get one, worth having it, also put some sta-bil towards the end of your season and some startron with the first fuel up you do.
Keep an eye on your buildge, that's how I found my tank had holes in it and because water weights more and is denser than water when the buildge fills up with water it will come inside your tank to drive you nuts, my discoveries on this took months . I'm planning to replace my rear tank the end of this summer.
Good luck flushing the injectors, sounds like a good method.
