  • 2000 Ficht 225hp over charging

    Hello evryone,
Las november went out on the boat and the volts went to the roof on the port engine +16volts, engine light on, etc. the only way to bring back down is by running the baitwell pump, lights and stereo all on, on idle no problems it stays at 13.8, but as rpm's go up so is the voltage. Sent it to DFI and after two months and $800 the EMM made it back, i installed a new water pump and when installed the EMM also verified water flows throught it.
Yesterday went out with the family for the second time after the emm's in and again the volts thru the roof, same thing, pumps and lights on to make it back to the dock.
Back in november two new DEKKA 950 amp batteries installed due to the dought tha batteries were the issue, but no luck so far.
What makes the voltage regulator/rectifier go bad? cooling water?
I verified water flow, but tomorrow I will follow the hose after the EMM to see if obstructed at the "Y" fitting or adapter fitting that plugs into the mid-plate under the powerhead.
Any advice, comments, guidance would be appreciated
    Thanks in advanced
    Nelson

      EMM overcharging

No, I don't have a software to hook up and see, my voltage goes up at the helm gauge +15v. and the check engine light comes up, the only way to bring it down is to turn all lights, stereo and baitwell pump on. I called DFI tech and they said was still under warranty to send it back, so I did, they rebuilt it last Octuber, but I have my doubts that could it be any thing alse in my charging system causing it to fry? I have a new water pump and just verified water flow from the mid-section to the Fuel Vapor Sep in/out to the EMM and back to the mid-section plate, it flushes instantly and plenty. What else? could it be the Stator? or simply a defective regulator, DFI has a good reputation but they didn't say they've had repairs in were the rect/regulator is found defective and I wonder if anyone else ever had this situation.
      thanks
