  • Stator voltage output test 35QLEUR 97 35hp 3cyl

I have a new to me 35hp 3cyl that loses spark after 10 to 15 minutes. Following the diagnostic tree in the OEM manual I have performed the kill circuit elimination test, p***ing. Next is the stator output test. The power coil has no voltage to ground while cranking, p*** result. Next is the output test of the power coil. The manual states 100v or more measured with a dva while cranking. My stator puts out 60v. Note that engine spins at more than 500rpm cranking. Next test was a resistance check of the power coil, p***ed also. I have replaced the stator with a new CDI unit with the same result. The flywheel is pristine. Magnets are in perfect physical condition. They seem to have enough magnetism, though I have nothing to compare it to.
Most say that magnets are very reliable and rarely go bad. I am about to replace the power pack and optical sensor, but I am hung up on the low stator voltage. Low voltage to the power pack could lead to an early demise for it.
Does anyone have experience with this stator test? Could the manual be wrong?

Test your coils after the 10 or 15 min.It sounds like the coils are getting hot for some reason. You can feel of the coils with your hand and tell if they are too hot.The coils have to produce enough voltage to jump the spark plug gap.Sounds like they are breaking down and not amplifing the stater out put.Just a guess.

Have performed ohmmeter test on coils when problem occurs, p***es all the way around. Will check with pyrometer next session. Thanks for suggestion.
