  • rpm's at wot?

Hello all, this is my first post. I am really glad to have found this site. There seems to be a ton of useful information here.

I currently have a 2006 40 hp Etec on a 18 pontoon boat. at wot the rpm's are at 4500. at approx 18 mph. Is this a normal?

I have read that wot for this outboard should be in the 5500 range. I'm looking to get the best performance from this engine and wondering it changing the prop would help or hurt. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That is the factory setting for the fuel injected models. It is set for the best performance of your vessel. Its hard to hot rod those. It will last a long time the way its set.

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it. I guess I'm expecting a little too much from a 40 hp.... Just trying to squeeze out every mph of it that I can. Lol
