  • No start issue after winter storage

I just bought this boat from a friend. It ran fine last year when he pulled it off the ohio.

I tried to fire it up after this winter, and it just cranks. Doesnt even try to fire. I sprayed some starter fluid, and that wakes it up. But quickly dies.

I have found a spring (red arrows) on one of the carbs linkagages that looks like it should go somewhere, but cant seen an obvious place where.

    Any thoughts?

Your engine is set up a little different than mine (81 90HP), but are the butterflies on the carbs closed? For these engines, they idle with the carb ports closed so starting should be ok. If they are open at all, it may not start due to too much air. Also does your engine have the primer feature which pushes the fuel directly to the engine when you press they key in )Turn key to on, press key in for 10 - 15 seconds and it pries the cylinders with fuel)

Otherwise, you may have dirty carbs for fuel sitting over the winter

      Thanks for the info.

      Yup, the carbs are closed.

I have a primer ball on the fuel line. I have pumped it until it is full of fuel.

Im gonna look and see if there is some kind of siphon fuel pump on the engine that is failing.
