I have a 96 e40eledes. It has been running good with no issues. two weeks ago it wouldn't start and I had no spark. I did some trouble shooting and determined it had a bad power pack. I put and oem power pack on it and it started right up and ran fine at lower Rpms, on the ears. I took it out yesterday and it wouldn't go over 3/4 throttle it sounded like it was hitting a rev limiter. It ran great at lower rpm and had no issues. The only thing I had done was put a new power pack on it and new cap and gasket for the choke actuator. I have checked everything over and looks like everything is connected and all my grounds are correct. The only thing I can figure is a bad power pack. Has this problem been seen before .

Recheck that it was correct part number, recheck wire connections and grounds.

I rechecked the grounds and connections .the part number is correct according to boat.net. I am thinking the problem could be in the timer base . Is that a possibility . From what I have read sometime the power pack failing will take out the timer base
