Hey all,
Took the boat out last week for the first time in a while. Started fine, took it out in the channel for a quick spin. Came up to speed no problem, but when I backed off to come to idle, the idle RPM was noticebly slower. Put it back in gear, gave it lots of throttle, & could only get to about 5mph. Got back to the dock & the idle was then normal again. Took it back out & came right back up to speed again. This happened on & off 4 or 5 times; it's as if half the cylinders simply stop firing. There's no shuddering or bad vibration or anything. It just has no power; & then suddenly it "fixes" itself again. Nor, once it is running well, does it happen. It seems to always occur after a normal time running & then throttling back. Any thoughts?
