  • Just finished rebuild, need help

I just finished rebuilding a 2004 Johnson 175 Carb engine that I bought with low compression. I've never run this motor before and I'm trying to run on a stand. After connecting the fuel, and priming the system, I noticed fuel coming out of the hose that tees to the vapor pump and the upper bearing vent. This is the hose that slides into the air silencer when installed. The motor starts and seems to run well, but fuel pulses out of this hose in a pretty strong spray. Is it normal for fuel to come out of this hose? Did I reconnect something wrong? I looked at all the pictures I took during tear down and everything is connected the same why I tore it down....any help would be appreciated!!!

If you are talking the drain hose coming from bottom of intake manifold then need to check fuel pump and pulse fitting in intake.

Actually, I'm talking about the hose going from the vapor pump to the tee, where it tees to the air silencer and to the crankcase. The fuel pulses out of the small hose going to the upper part of the air silencer. I'm thinking it has to be a problem with the vapor pump, but not really sure. But thanks for the help!!
