Just put a gl*** inline filter on my boat and saw some nasty things flowing through. Checked my fuel filter at the fuel pump and there were some particles in it. I just purchased the boat a little while ago and can see there have been fuel flow restriction problems. I just switched out my anti siphon valve, it was frozen in place. My sender on my tank is quite rotted and the low spot at which it sits pools water around it. I am thinking water may well be seeping under it and getting into the fuel tank. I could see water in the gl*** filter which I installed today. My question is, do ya think the carbs need to come off for a cleaning or does the filter at the pump keep the crud out. I mean if it gets past that fine screen does it also p*** through the carbs and then the exhaust not being an issue due to it particulate size? Appreciate your replies. Thanks in advance.

The particles in filter may be from sediment in gas tank(Ethanol will loosen it up in tank) or from fuel lines deteriorating. Need to install a 10 Micron fuel/water separator filter and remove the gl*** filter you have, may need to replace fuel lines. Replace fuel filter on engine. Remove and clean carbs.
