  • 1960 evinrude starflite II no start

i have a 1960 evinrude starflite II 75 hp model #50523 that wont start. i have tried cleaning the carburator and setting the float, used new fuel, installed new coil. i have spark. i have adjusted the timing and checked it several times. it tried to start once and after that nothing since. pouring fuel down the carburator and in the cylinder and still nothing. i dont know what to do anymore. please anybody that can help it will be appreciated.

Check compression to see if compression is even on all cylinders.

70 psi compression is very low, remove cylinder head and look for blown head gasket or piston and cylinder damage.

i have found a different complete power head that has all the parts on it. carb, dist, starter, etc on it. it has sat for a few years but still turns over good. it has 70-75 psi when doing a dry compression test and 85-105psi when squirting in some 2-cycle oil. does that sound promising or should i just get it and use it for parts???

70-75 is low, may be ok for parts.

                  good ol engine

it takes a very minimum of 90=+ lbs to even run. guess u should use it for parts. you need to get a newer engine. so you can get parts for it.
