Check compression to see if compression is even on all cylinders.
-
70 psi compression is very low, remove cylinder head and look for blown head gasket or piston and cylinder damage.

i have found a different complete power head that has all the parts on it. carb, dist, starter, etc on it. it has sat for a few years but still turns over good. it has 70-75 psi when doing a dry compression test and 85-105psi when squirting in some 2-cycle oil. does that sound promising or should i just get it and use it for parts???
