I have a 1987 40 hp rude on my pontoon boat it was running fine when i put it up this past winter. Now I bring it out and put the ears on it to check it out. The next thing I know it's reeving a 100 miles per hour even though I haven't touched the throttle. I shut the key off and it just kept going. I had to choke it to get it to shut down. Any idaes what could be going on ??

Check timing advance plate under flywheel is not stuck at wide open throttle. Could be running extremely lean. Remove and clean carbs and replace intake manifold gaskets.
