I am almost finished building a Clark Craft wooden/fibergl*** 13’ Sport Runabout. It is rated for a 20-40 hp outboard. I would like to find the lightest weight, close to 40hp as possible. So far, I have been told that a 1997-2005 Johnson/Evinrude 30hp without any electric is the answer. I was told they are actually 35hp and due to weight, outperform a 40hp. They seem to weight in at around 115lbs.
My next step is to find one. I would probably prefer a later year in less than perfect condition that I could have completely rebuilt.
Any argument, agreement, suggestions, or further information would be appreciated.
