1998 8HP trolling issue

I'm new to this forum and am seeking some help with my 1998 8HP Evinrude outboard. Purchased it this past summer, it starts with the first or second pull, runs great trolling and at full throttle... except... after about 45 minutes of trolling, the motor starts to skip and then die out. If I catch it and give it more gas, it will revive. When it dies out, I can restart it easily and it is good for another 45 minutes. Any ideas on what is happening and what I can do to correct this? Is engine overheating? check fuel pump, clean carb, check fuel hoses and filters.
