How to Rewind a Starter spring.

I recently received an Evinrude "Mate" model outboard motor 2hp.
Serial number 2102A-EO1225

I thought I could remove the engine cover by removing the bolt on top of the cover in order to clean better. However when I heard a loud "Sprrooinggg!" I realized my error.

Is there an easy way to rewind this spring & get it back in place. I have tried everything but you need four hands to hold all in place.

Any suggestions?

There is no easy way. Takes patience and time. Many people just buy new springs for the simplicity (new springs are prewound), but you can rewind your original.
