I have a 1979 Evinrude rope start outboard and when I squeeze the primer bulb on the gas line fuel flows freely from a round opening at the top of the carburetor. Anyone know why this would be occurring? And of course the motor will not start. I have cleaned the caruberator recently.

Sounds like your needle is not seating properly, means you may need to remove and clean carburetors again. Be sure to verify every air/fuel p***age is clear from debri.
