Which way to place the seal ?
Do I put the inside or sring side toward the lower unit where the oil would come up to it?
Do I put the spring side to the water pump side?
The old style rubber seal that seated into the bottom of the water pump plate was all but gone. and the new seal is steel and rubber spring loaded.

So now after much research and good light and my gl***es on I find that the part in question is not even listed in the parts catalog. If you copy and paste this link above to the address bar at the top of Yahoo.com you can the part in question. I know the grommet was in this engine because when I tore it down the 10% of the grommet was there.
Any thoughts???
