1977 70hp evinrude lower unit oil leak

hello to everyone out there. I have lower unit oil leak out from the rear pee hole of the unit. at first a little bit and now quite a bit. 1977 evinrude 70hp.drained the lower unit and there are traces of water in the unit and the oil is black. any help with this will do.

What kind of traces are you seeing, when water is in the oil the oil turns milky (whitish). If the oil is black then oil maybe very old or prematurely darkened do to lower unit heating up.

i changed the oil maybe three months ago. not milky though. when i removed the lower oil plug straight water came out then black gear oil.what about the leak out the pee hole in the rear?

The only pee hole is on the bottom cowling on the motor and it is supposed to have water. You need to replace the lower unit seals.

your right that pee hole is just above the lower unit. the oil is coming out off there.so definitely the lower unit seals
