  • 1995 130hp shuts down at higher speeds

I have a 1995 130hp Evinrude that will die when at speed. I call this the one-a-day die.
The motor will die, usually while going on plane and over 4,000 rpm. It stops sometimes like the key was shut off and other times it will sputter or surge like it ran out of fuel. Then if I let it sit for 30 to 40 minutes, it will start up again eithout much problem. But almost never sooner than 30 minutes. It could die again in a few minutes or run all day without any issues.
Any ideas on what could be going wrong?
I do have the oil tank removed and I premix the fuel.
I just don't know where to start here.

Try pumping primer bulb to reprime fuel system, try choking it, get a timing light and check for spark on all cylinders when it stalls.

Check compression, check to see if has spark on all cylinders and check fuel
