I am trying to keep this old boy alive, and hoping for some quidance.
Doing a lake test the other day, everything was running fine for about 20mins., then it started sputtering like it was out of gas. The tank was at least 3/4 full, and the fuel bulb was hard. I slowed it down to about 3500 rpm, and turned back. Shortly the "coughing" reappeared. When I was about 1/4 mile from the ramp, the motor died. I was able to restart the motor 5 or 6 times. but it immediately died when put in gear. Then it would not start at all. I had just pulled the hood, and a kind boater offered to pull me in the last 1/4 mile.
My quess is there is something malfunctioning in either the fuel system or the ignition system. Which would you recommend I start looking into?
I had just opened the fuel pump and cleaned all parts before rebuilding. Also, the gas is less than 3 weeks old.
Any help would be appreciated.
