  • E-TEC 75/90 Electrical Harness change

Hi, i'm new here and have little experience with this motors. I've had one for quite a few years but never really used it a lot. Mi outboard motor is a 2006 e-tec 90 hp. The long story short. I sunk my boat and the electrical harness appearently fried.

Now i've been told by the seller that i only need to change the electrical harness. The problem is that hes charging me 2,000.00 usd for the piece and i thinks it's too expensive so i decided to search on ebay.

As it turns out i found the part i was looking for which is only $200.00 usd, only it's used but i dont mind as long as it works. I;m also buying the service manual so that i can install it correctly.

My main concern is that maybe i don't have the tools to install it. I have a lot of shop tools in my house but dont know about this motor specific tools.

Is there anything that i should know before making this purchase? Is it really hard to install the harness? I'm studying mechatronic engineering so i know electronics and mechanics, but i know that this kind of jobs can require a lot of training and specific tools oftentimes.

Hoping for an honest answer, thanks in advance.

You should not need specialty tools to change the wire harness.
