1980-85 HP Evinrude exhaust housing removal

I am trying to remove the exhaust housing from the Power head adaptor to work on the water tube that I bent while trying to install the lower unit. I have all the bolts out that I can see under the cowling and it will not come loose from the adaptor.
My question is does anyone know if there are bolts coming down from under the power head inside the cowling that have to be removed to remove the exhaust housing?
I know it has a sealer on the two parts but it seems to be stuck to tight to be just the sealer. thanks for any advice

No there should not be any bolts that run down. Just be sure you have removed all the power head boats/nuts. There are studs that drop down, but they have nuts you remove.
