After a week of digging around this great site I started taking apart my 1980 35hp evinrude
The shift linkage come off from the upper half of the shift rod. From this forum I found I had to remove the power head (but only after I removed the lower leg)
The cotter pin fell outr and the pin fell out. (now on order) with a new exhaust gasket.
Since the shift rod is still connected to the leg, I don't want to remove it and mess up the shift length.
Can I put the lower leg back on then reconnect the shift ron to the linkage , then put the power head on? Will the water tube be a pain in the *** to get on
Or put the power head on first?
oh I am newbie at outboards
Cheers
