Ignition and trim dead.

Got a '89 (+-) 60 hp el. start o.b., went to start after fishing (no fish) and nothing at all w/ ignition and trim. After towing checked for power to starter.
Turned over good and popped when byp***ing solenoyd. Whats next ? I'm thinking starter switch but I'm just a carpenter. Anybody got a better next try?

On the solenoid, there should be 4 wires, two large and two small. One of the small is ground the other is power in start possition. Verify you are getting power to the solenoid in the start possition.

No power

nothing at solenoid except batt. cable while key in start pos.

Then that sounds like ignition switch or wiring to and from the switch.
