ficht 135 fuel pump/vapor separator

pressure regulator is toast and pump gets red hot to touch.
is the non-existent regulator causing the heat in the pump?
for instance could the fuel be returning to quick and not cooling
in the separator?or are they both dead.

The fuel pump could be running too hard, but should not get that hot. You may want to replace them both.
