  • 1985 150hp vro replaced

just replaced vro (oms pump), oil and gas lines done. wiring has a 4 pin connector with directions to connect to old 3 pin connector. says to pull out 3 amphenol pins in old one, put in new one (which has only one ), and discard old connector, plug into new female connector which has only one (purple) wire which should go to the purple on the terminal block.
problem 1: how to get old pins out without breaking them
problem 2: why put 3 more pins in a male connector when only one wire comes out of the female end?
problem 3: what to do with the wires from the old 3 pin connector, two go to the terminal block, one splits into 2 which go seem to go to the temperature sensors on both sides of the eng. block.
problem 4: can i run engine with out wires connected to verify that my new vro pump works and took care of my problem of no wot?

if i order ampenol pins from online and put them into the new 4 pin connector (which has only one), then connect it to the new female connector supplied, then connect the one purple wire from the female connector to the purple on the terminal block as written, then what? if I discard the old connector, what happens to the temp. sensors? what happens to the low oil alarm?

Those wires are for the oil sensor on the VRO. You require a special tool that releases the pin clamps. If the instructions say to disgard the other wires and only use the one, then do as it says. You can cut or just tape the excess wires out of the way.
