1978 9.9 Evinrude 10824M Rewind Pulley Lower

I was looking around for a new rewind pulley lower 0318939, but it is now obsolete.

I called a few dealers in the area (Ontario) and one dealer mentioned that I can substitute the whole rewind pulley ***y with 324909. That part is for motor 1979 and up.

Will this fit on my 1978?
