I have a rebuilt mid 90's 2 stroke 200 HP Ocean Pro on a boat I recently bought. As soon as I got it, I changed the plugs and the lower unit oil. The fuel tank has ethanol-free gas in it that I mixed with the proper amount of oil (oil injection has been removed). It starts instantly, ran well the last time I used it a week ago, started instantly today, ran it at varying speeds (still getting used to it and the boat), up to 4500 rpm for 5+ min, slow/idle speed for 10 min, pisses water fine, ran smooth with no problems. As I was maneuvering to get it on my boat lift, at idle speed in reverse, it just quit and would not start again. It cranks over, just won't cough, fire up, or run. The fuel line priming pump bulb felt soft so I pumped it up until firm again, but it still won't fire up. I don't think I flooded it, the sudden stopping sounds to me more like an electrical issue, like something disconnected or suddenly failed. Any idea where to start looking or checking? Could be in the throttle/ shift control, coil, or ???????
At least it crapped out 20-30' from my dock instead of miles offshore.
