I have a 2005 Evinrude Ficht that has been randomly dying on me. It has done it to me at wide open throttle and just cruising at about 5mph. It starts to sputter then dies. Takes about 4 to 5 cranks and starts back up and runs fine. The motor runs excellent just randomly has been doing this. I have changed the spark plugs, fuel filter/water separator, and checked the fuel for water. I thought for sure the spark plugs would fix this when I changed them because the old ones looked pretty worn but still have the same issue. It did it four times to me yesterday when I was out for the day. Does this seem like a bad fuel pump? How do I check fuel pressure and where should the pressure be at? Any other thoughts? Maybe the vent in the tank is partially plugged? Is it possible the ball to pump the fuel up is not allowing enough fuel through? Does it even need the ball beings it is fuel injected? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
