I just bought a 1989 Riviera Cruiser pontoon boat with a 1989 Evinrude 48 on it. (Model: E48ESLCER) The lower unit needs replacing, does anyone know of a cheap way to do this? I'm new to the boat motor world and need some help. I can't shell out 2,000 dollars for a new lower unit. Do any other models' lower units fit on this model? Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

You will need to find one used for a cheap price. To have one rebuilt your probably still around $1,000 - $1,500.
