I have an 81 Evinrude 35 that will momentarily pop out of gear for a split second under load in forward gear. I plan on replacing the clutch dog but everyone says that I should also replace the forward gear. Is it possible to switch the forward and reverse gears when installing the clutch dog? I do not want to have to purchace the forward gear if i don't have to.

They are not reversable, you will need to purchase the forward gear if it is required.

I have a 50 HP evinrude my motor cable ***embly corroded and detached from the male end nearest the motor. it is not color coded on the motor end, what terminal goes where, or is there a color code for this ***embly that i can use for a guide to let me know what connects to the solenoid and the terminal block..

If you are talking about the battery cable, then one goes to the engine block as a ground the other goes to either a solenoid or distribution block.

The clutch dog uses both of its ends. But in theory yes you can turn it around.
