hey everyone, i am a new boat owner and the boat i just bought has a 15 hp evinrude its a 2002 (thats all the info i have on it now because i still don't have possession of this boat until i finished building my parking pad) yesterday i bought an old cl***ic 1976 4HP evinrude as a kicker motor! 1st question i have is how can i be sure what i have here is a 1976 the numbers i got off the tag is 4636M C 79567, question #2 i hear that on these old cl***ics its a good idea to check the water pump impeller, what do i look for when doing so? question #3 what in your opinion is a good manual for these motors? since mine came with nothing.
my plans for this motor is get it running well for this year and in the winter i will do a full resto, now i will be doing a carb kit and cleaning out the fuel system because the old fuel smells like varnish. spark plugs ect...

thanks for the help everyone. Steve

Model 4636M is a 1974 model year. Probably would be a good idea to replace water pump impeller.
You can order manuals from Original outboard product and service manuals for Johnson, Evinrude, Gale, and OMC

thanks! 1 more question, what oil/fuel mixture would be recommended for this engine? i was thinking 50-1 would be safe but i'm not sure what it should be.

        Yes use a 50:1 ratio.
